Follow the Money: Roger Simon Comments on Transgender Movement Aimed at Children, Keeping Them on the “Medical Treadmill”

Live from Music Row Thursday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed all-star panelist Roger Simon in-studio to discuss the genital mutilation of minor children through a systematic trend of transgenderism pushed by schools and libraries.

Leahy: In-studio, all-star panelist Roger Simon. Roger, I want to talk to you and get your reaction to my thoughts about what I think is a devastatingly bad trend in America, which is the rise of efforts to encourage the transgender movement in children.

Simon: Right here at Vanderbilt Hospital. Shame on them.

Leahy: This pediatric transgender clinic and the genital mutilation of young children.

Simon: The thing that I was talking about that was going on in the Columbia, Tennessee library works hand in hand with that.

Leahy: Elaborate on that a little bit.

Simon: Because what they’re doing is they’re setting up children for this kind of trend. You’re allowed to pick your gender if you’re a 6-year-old.

Leahy: Let me just stop for a moment. That is utterly against every scientific study that’s ever been done.

Simon: Also, it’s against common sense. Men and women and boys and girls have been on sliding sexuality scales since the human race evolved as Homo sapiens an estimated 200,000 years ago.

They were always boys that exhibited feminine traits and girls that exhibited masculine traits. This has been going on forever.

Leahy: There are boys and there are girls.

Simon: They’re still what they are, and it’s no big deal. It’s developmental. And some of them will change, others will change less, and some will change more. But intervening in that at a young age destroys their capability of life.

And also tons of money are being made in this, because once they have this kind of surgery or take these blockers, they’re on the medical treadmill for the rest of their lives.

Leahy: For the rest of their lives. And it is unconscionable that this movement has arisen to destroy young children’s capabilities in something that is utterly irreversible.

Simon: Yes. To make them slaves of the state.

Leahy: Yes.

Simon: This is the new form of communism and it’s really frightening and so sad.

Leahy: Why has it been allowed to grow? Why has it been embraced by Vanderbilt University Medical Center, by Children’s Hospital in Boston, and by all sorts of them?

Simon: Well, H.L. Mencken said it right years ago: when somebody says it’s not about the money, it’s about the money. It’s not just that, but it’s a lot that. Although they won’t admit it to themselves or anybody else.

Of course, the government is involved in this, because the government finances all of these hospitals. So everything is so corrupt. And that is essentially socialism at work, because we have a form of socialized medicine.

Leahy: It seems to me that there is an opportunity here for the Tennessee General Assembly to do something about it.

Simon: There sure is, and I hope that they do because this is really serious stuff. Also, I’m going to have the honor today – you’ve already done it – I’m interviewing our new state attorney general for The Epoch Times later this afternoon.

Leahy: Jonathan Skrmetti.

Simon: I have to learn how to spell his name. You could help me.

Leahy: S-K-R-M-E-T-T-I

Simon: I got it, I think. (Laughter) Anyway, I think here’s a role to play there. We’ll find out. I’m going to talk to him about it.

Leahy: What sort of questions will you ask him?

Simon: I don’t know. I don’t work that way. I have a conversation.

Leahy: You just have a conversation and see what comes up.

Simon: And something comes out of that, I hope. Yes. It’s what I’ve always done. I’m not a traditional journalist, nor do I want to be, nor have I played one on television.

Leahy: Or on the radio. I think what we have here in Tennessee is widespread disapproval of genital mutilation of boys and girls under the age of 18. It should be illegal.

Simon: I would concur completely. And sadly, the trend is going in the other direction, but it is coming right out of the schools, and it’s coming out of librarians, of all people.

Leahy: Let’s go back to the librarians. What’s happened to librarians? I guess they’ve been sort of, statists, I suppose, for a long time, but, man, all around the country librarians are pushing this kind of stuff.

Simon: In order to get a job at one of these major libraries, or minor libraries, even, you have to have a master’s in library science, whatever that is.

Everything is a science when it’s not. This isn’t science, except that you have to learn the Dewey Decimal System, which you probably could learn in 15 minutes.

Leahy: Yes, I would say so. It’s basically next-level indoctrination in left-wing ideology.

Simon: When they add science to it, you can smell the indoctrination.

Leahy: What we need to do is we need to bring some librarians in here, and just ask them these questions.

Simon: I think that would be wise.

Leahy: We’re open to their arguments – would like to hear their arguments.

Simon: Again, I’m a free speech absolutist.

Leahy: If you’re a librarian and you want to come in on the show, give us a call, and we’ll have you in-studio and have a conversation. Why have librarians turned into left-wing ideologues? One of many questions.
